School Board Update:
The Albany County School Board met on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 and approved the following personnel recommendations, program actions, business items, and policy changes:
Personnel Recommendations: The School Board reviewed and approved the monthly personnel actions including resignations, retirements, extra duty assignments, additional duties, classified appointments, and certified appointments.
School District Business Items and Bids
Monthly Financial Reports.
Federal and State Grants Financial Report.
Donations:
The School Board approved a $1,000 donation from the First Lady’s Hunger Initiative to provide nutritional needs for children attending the Little Wizards Childcare Center.
The School Board approved a $1,000 donation from the John P. Ellbogen Foundation to Rock River School.
2023-2024 CPA Audit Report: The School Board approved the 2023-2024 CPA audit report.
School Board Officer Elections: The School Board voted to keep the same officer positions in place.
UW Lab School Closure: The School Board voted to close the UW Lab
School effective the 2025-2026 school year, and transition all students to their home boundary school.
Early Graduation Requests: The School Board approved the proposed early graduation requests.
New Course Updates: The School Board approved the 2024-2025 course updates.
2025-2026 Course Catalog for Whiting High School and Rock River School: The School Board approved the proposed 2025-2026 course catalog for Whiting High School and Rock River.
Budget Calendar: The School Board approved the proposed budget calendar.
Annual Agenda: The School Board approved the proposed annual calendar.
Policies Approved on First Reading: No policies were approved on first reading.

In addition to the approval of programs, policies, and bids, the School Board heard the following presentations and recognitions:
• Presentations:
o Laramie Middle School students presented all of their efforts they make as a school to ensure students excel.
• Recognitions:
o Snowy Range FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team won their State Contest and placed as a Gold Emblem team during Nationals.
o LMS Wrestling Team was recognized for being Conference Champions.
o LMS 8th grade Football Team was recognized for being Conference Champions.
o LMS Fall Cross Country Team was recognized for being Conference and State Champions.
o LHS Girls Swimming was recognized for being Conference and State Champions.
o WHS and Rock River students were recognized for their work on improving and collaborating the structure of alternative schools in the District.
o James Fuerholzer, Slade Paraeducator was recognized for his years of dedication to our students at ACSD#1.
