We will be utilizing the first portion of I&E on Wednesday, September 11th to discuss the significance of this day in our country’s history.

Wednesday, September 11th will be our next I&E. Wednesday’s career presenter will be Glen Halsey from WyoTech. Our presenter will be discussing career options and training opportunities available in the auto/diesel repair industry as well as options with careers and training in the welding industry. 

Upcoming I&E events include: 

  • September 18th - Army National Guard

  • September 25th - Wyoming Game & Fish (tentative)

  • October 2nd - College of Engineering/Career Partner and LPD Bomb Robotics Demonstration

  • October 16th - Kyle Groose, Careers in Law Enforcement and Kick-Off of Law Enforcement Academy  

Leadership Wyoming participants will be at Laramie High School on September 11th, anytime between 10:00-11:00 am, for a tour of the building. 

A visiting Chinese Consulate will be touring LHS on Wednesday, September 12th with Dr. Goldhardt.

The Homecoming Assembly is scheduled for September 11th. The modified schedule is attached: Homecoming Assembly Schedule. Additionally, the Homecoming Parade for elementary schools/middle school is scheduled for September 11th in the morning. The LHS Band and Cheer will be participating in the parade. Homecoming themes include: Monday - Purple, Tuesday - Decades, Wednesday - Country vs. Country Club, Thursday - Music Icons, Friday - Plainsmen Pride. 

Picture retakes are scheduled for 9-25-24.

The WAO College Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25th from 8:30 - 9:30.

A U.S. Service Academy presentation is scheduled for September 28th at South High School in Cheyenne at 1:00 pm.

The optional Senior ACT test date sponsored by the Wyoming Department of Education is scheduled for October 1st. Please contact a counselor for more information. 

National Honor Society applications are due October 4th. 

The College & Career Training Financial Aid Night is scheduled for October 8th at 6:00 pm in the LHS Auditorium.

Our ACSD #1 accreditation visit is scheduled for October 17th-18th.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for October 30th and 31st.

Good Things to Share: 

Laramie High School has four National Merit Scholars! This is the most of any high school in Wyoming.

The LHS Swim Team won both duals on Friday in Gillette and an invitational on Saturday in Casper. 

The Laramie Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams beat Rock Springs on Saturday and Torrington on Friday. 

The LHS Volleyball Team won the championship in the Gold Bracket at the Gillette Invite. 

Grace Bunning and Caroline Henson earned recognition from America 250 Field Trip this past summer.

Reminders/News:

Aaron Lozano and Jacqueline Allen reached out to all staff members for student nominees to serve on our LHS HOPE Squad last Tuesday. The goal of Hope Squad is to prevent suicide through public awareness and education, reduce stigma, and serve as a resource to those touched by suicide. This intervention began last year at LHS.

The criteria for I&E grading (Pass/Fail) and student/teacher expectations:

Grading:

  • Punctuality. On time and physically accountable throughout the I & E period. Students must be present at least 60% of all scheduled I&E periods (excluding excused absences). 

  • Follow processes and procedures for getting academic support.

  • Prepared to best utilize I&E time. Bring a book, homework, and/or something to work on. 

  • On-task. Not disruptive. 

*Must meet 3 of the 4 expectations to adequately meet expectations for the period.

Student/Teacher I&E Expectations:

The instructional emphasis for the school year is engagement. Towards that end, our all-building efforts include CKH strategies, cell phone management, and the utilization engagement strategies like Kagan.
